Outreach Program

 

The Lab of Meditation Outreach program is an 8-week program delivered in person or virtually by our students as part of their volunteering hours towards certification. It aims to bring mindfulness meditation to all community members.

In the past years we have supported especially those in marginalized and disadvantaged spaces of the Downtown Eastside (DTES) in Vancouver and their frontline support teams.

Since 2017, we have been in partnership with Watari Counselling & Support Services. Watari is: “a small, registered social-profit organization, with a volunteer Board of Directors. Our primary mission is to facilitate positive change in the lives of at-risk children, youth, their families and communities in the Downtown Eastside and the Greater Vancouver/Richmond areas.”

Watari.  We are a Social Profit Agency in the DTES supporting the people in this community with low barrier access to counselling and outreach.   The students who are facilitating meditation at Watari have been amazing and fit in with our own mission to provide meaningful strength based services to the people we support.  We appreciate their mindfulness, creativity and compassion in the guided meditations.  The students show a strong ability to connect to our community, including our staff and we hope to have more opportunities to have them here at Watari.“

The Lab of Meditation delivers also a 3-weeks program -The Lab of Rest and Respite- in collaboration w British Columbia Provincial Health Services Authority PHSA to our local frontline workers.
