Meditation is not about relaxation or turning the negative into positive. It is simply and quite truthfully “making the unbearable bearable”. I discovered meditation during a painful period and found it to be a beautiful tool and practice that made life easier. Sharing my learnings, as maybe there is something for you here: Meditation allows us presence- simply being here, in contact with the moment. Noticing, observing what is there, how it feels, what it’s here to teach us. It allows acceptance of the current moment in all its joy and or suffering. It increases your ability for calm, presence, focused attention, peacefulness, stress reduction, connection, inner knowing, intuition and your understanding of the wisdom of the body. Thank you to Hiro for being so beautifully yourself, and the most loving teacher and to the Lab of Meditation for the perfect melding and inclusion of western science, eastern philosophy and social justice.

The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers. Thich Naht Hahn. This time last week was the bitter sweet culmination of a year of meditation teacher training. It’s so sweet to have finished and to have shared the experience with these wonderful folks. I have truly treasured the experience, learning with everyone, sharing meditation, and of course, the incredible teachings of the one, the only hiro. To say it has been life-changing is an understatement. One of the biggest lessons of this training has been of love, compassion, acceptance, for myself and for others, radically. We had some soft conversations, some hard conversations, some crispy conversations… I am so grateful. All the love to my meditation buddies at The Lab of meditation, I am trying to practice non-attachment, but I miss our Tuesdays together already.”

My heart is full. It’s graduation day, we have reached the end (which is truly the beginning) of the Lab of meditation Teacher Training, thanks to the spicy, delicious and crispy Hiroko Demichelis and the incredible humans at the Lab of meditation. Over the last few months, we explored neuroanatomy, biofeedback technology, racial equity and healing, gender inclusivity and much more. We confronted our fears, biases and pain. With curiosity, laughter and immense amount of brain training, Hiro guided us toward a deeper practice for ourselves and for those we may guide in the future. Hiro is wise, gracious, informed, tender and loving. She holds a brilliant spirit and an incredible depth of knowledge, inviting many different voices, perspectives and experiences. Honoured to be one of her graduates and to share these gifts with the world.

Truly loving myself for completing the 200hr meditation teacher training certification with the Lab of Meditation. When we began, the magically infectious Hiro told us that we would realize we were already enough. That turned out to be true. However, she is humble in that her leadership and guidance provided a forum for the in-depth study of social justice, gender equity, neuroanatomy, positive psychology, safety, warmth and compassion. My cohort fostered true connections and friendships. We meditated A LOT and learned how to use science, language, poetry, music and spirit to be able to lead classes and share this technology.

Well Meditated. I am incredibly grateful to Hiro for capturing my heart, my mind and the #vegasnerve over 200 hours of meditation teacher training. My curiosity was ignited with every Tuesday night class. Everything from theoretical approaches to mindfulness, guided meditation, provoking dialogues on social justice and delicious inspirations to transform my life into daily habits and rituals. I have been noticing a shift since October in how I process my negative and positive thoughts and the experience has been wonderful.

I set out on this adventure with the Lab of Meditation in order to deepen my understanding of self, meditation & to explore how to exist authentically in both my personal & professional life ~ bringing into harmony my spiritual being with my human experience. Meditation has been a truly transformational practice for me in navigating my experience of being alive but this course really opened my heart & mind to new depths that are possible when we nurture our true nature. I will be forever grateful to hiro as well as my fellow students of life (GummyBear4Life!) during this 200hr Meditation Teacher Training. Being in practice & exploration with them taught me that the greatest gift we can give & receive is presence. Far beyond all the practical tools of meditation, this program truly teaches you how to hold safe space for anyone & anything that crosses your path ~ whether within the mind and body or out in the world. I now know through hiro's example how to hold myself & others through "crunchy" moments as well as how to cultivate curiosity, compassion, connection & care as my foundations for being in the world whether I find myself personally or professionally as a guide on the side for others navigating their own unique life adventure.
